In their own words

Often participants in restorative justice processes and programmes describe their experiences as opportunities for learning and connecting with others. Quite often they speak of their surprise in just how positive the experience was.

Kris Miner of the St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice Programme shares this slide show highlighting comments from participants in different programmes.

Comments include:

"I really appreciate how no one is judging here and how both victims and offenders speak. It is very different from other panels. I actually felt kindness in the room." -- participant in a victim impact panel.

"The event as a whole was fantastic. I like the feeling of trust and understanding in the circle." Volunteer Community Member in Victim Empathy Seminar.

The slide show includes comments from the entire range of services

offered by St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice Programm:

  • Victim Impact Panels
  • Underage Consumption Panels
  • Victim Offender Conferencing
  • Victim Empathy Seminars
  • Safe Teen Driving Circles
  • Training workshops

What do these types of statements tell us about restorative processes? Has your programme collected and used quotes from participants in different ways?
